Total Network Services, a San Diego-based blockchain services company, announced the close of its Series A STO funding round. On the close of a $25 million Series B offering in November, it intends to list on the Tezos XTZ Chain.

IKEA Iceland has taken part in a commercial transaction on ethereum, using smart contracts and licensed e-money to settle an order. IKEA partnered with Tradeshift and Monerium to carry out the transaction. Monerium and Tradeshift suggested the “world’s first” transaction shows that “government-regulated, programmable e-money is ready for mainstream markets.”

As well as offering the potential for legally compliant ICOs, advocates argue that STOs allow companies to put existing securities such as stocks and bonds on a cryptographic blockchain, so people can trade securities with no need for a middleman. In theory, any form of value could be “tokenized”—stock certificates, diamonds, even art collections.
